I research and develop Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning applications in image and natural language processing and geospatial intelligence. I love a good challenge because it's always an opportunity to learn something new. It's very exciting to grasp a new concept and implement it to solve a problem. I always try to stretch myself and build on what I've learned to create something novel. When everyone in a team is having that experience together the creativity and excitement is compounded. When we deliver a novel product that impacts lots of people - that is the most rewarding thing to me. That's the kind of work environment I try to create and maintain. That's the kind of environment I thrive in. On a personal note: I have a wife and two young kids. Incidentally I took my wife to prom in high school, but we didn't date until later in college. I used to race triathlons and marathons. Now I enjoy trail running and pushing a jogging stroller long distances while jamming to Disney tunes with my kids. I grew up in the Philippines in the 80s and 90s. I've lived in the US since 2000. I love studying foreign languages. I'm interested in NLP applications to improve foreign and ancient language translation. I'm also a big imagery nerd. I appreciate the aesthetic work of a photographer, but I'm really interested in the physics of light, digital capture, and image formation and manipulation. Medical imaging also piques my interest. I nerded out with the sonographer at each of my kids' ultrasounds.
