Member, CMS collaboration, at CERN's Large Hadron Collider. Long Lived Exotica Working Group co-convener (2014–present). Serve as one of two conveners leading this group whose goal is to search for new particles that decay a measurable distance from the primary vertex of the proton-proton interaction. The group includes over a dozen active analyses, which are sensitive to particles with a broad range of lifetimes, from picoseconds to weeks. This is a level-3 management position. Search for disappearing tracks (2013–present). Lead analyst for this search, working with my supervisor and a graduate student. We search for the signature of a disappearing track, one with missing hits in the outer layers of the tracker and little associated energy deposited in the calorimeter. This paper has been published in JHEP 01, 096 (2015). Analysis of the Run 2 data is underway. Search for stopped particles (summer 2015–present). Work with a graduate student, a postdoc, and my supervisor on the Run 2 search for exotic long-lived particles that come to rest in the calorimeter and remain for a significant amount of time before decaying. This search is sensitive to particles with lifetimes between 100 nanoseconds and several weeks, spanning 13 orders of magnitude. Search for fractionally charged particles (2011–2012). Lead analyst for this search, working with my supervisor and a graduate student. We set the first LHC limits on fractionally charged particles. Phys. Rev. D 87, 092008 (2013). Analysis Review Committees (ARC). Prepared analyses for publication by improving the analysis techniques and the clarity of the presentation of results. Member of two ARCs and chair of a third.
