I develop and maintain behavioral risk models in addition to origination modeling for our retail portfolio. As a member of the Model Risk Management Committee I help to evaluate the efficacy of the models across the association. I am also a member of the association’s Diversity and Inclusion Council and Inclusion subcommittee through which I espouse a culture of diversity, inclusion, and belonging. All in the name of providing a better experience for our employees, customers, and owners in effort to be the best lender in agriculture.

Starting my journey as a data scientist, I was challenged with the task of creating underwriting models to help automate the loan approval process for new customers. At the time, every new customer application saw a customer service representative in a process that was time-consuming, difficult to control, inconsistent, and unscalable. I explored data in SQL, built machine learning models in R, and worked with the engineering team to put these models into production. After many iterations, these models helped to fully automate the loan approval process in a way that was instantaneous, easy to control, consistent, and scalable. This allowed customer service representatives to focus on what they do best — providing amazing customer service!
