About meliha
I am a Professor in the Department of Biomedical Informatics and Medical Education and Adjunct Professor in the Department of Linguistics at the University of Washington. Before joining University of Washington, I worked in industry as a researcher. I lead the UW-BioNLP group. My group's research is on natural language processing and its application to clinical domain to enable meaningful secondary use applications that have direct impact on improving quality of patient care and advancing clinical research. My research has been funded by National Institutes of Health (NIBIB and NCI), Microsoft, and Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation. I serve as an associate editor for Journal of Biomedical Informatics.
